The 2 minute rule

David Allen came up with the “2 minute rule”. If something takes less than 2 minutes to complete, do it now. Surprisingly effective, I’ve found. However, all the rest of it seems a little like a super-deluxe-to-do-list, though ofcourse any convert would put me right there.

From my quick read of the work section of the guardian from the 29th july 06 (yes I had saved it to read later) the “GTD” idea is to label everything and create specialised to-do lists.

So, though frowned upon for some reason, compartmentalising everything is the way to “Get Things Done”.

I’d agree – setup your home list, your work list, your relationship list etc and put the things on it that cannot be done in 2 minutes and, also, importantly, cannot be done in 2 minutes right now and say goodbye to a life of chaos and never getting things done.

Ahh, wouldnt life be great if that were true? Your mind would be would be freed up for new ideas rather than stressing over things that havent been done, a revolution!
